SHAH ALAM, July 14 — The development of the Third Port Klang Terminal on Pulau Carey is set to become another catalyst for Selangor's economic prosperity, said Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari.
The new terminal is expected to create more high-quality employment opportunities while strengthening Selangor's competitiveness as Malaysia's economic engine.
"I chaired the Special Meeting on the Development of the Third Port Klang Terminal. This meeting was crucial in coordinating the involvement of all relevant agencies to realise this strategic project.
"The project is expected to have a significant impact on Selangor's economic growth while reinforcing Malaysia's position as a regional trade and logistics hub.
"The state government is targeting the project's groundbreaking ceremony to take place in the third quarter of 2026," he said in a Facebook post today.
Amirudin is also confident that the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS), its subsidiaries, and all parties involved would be able to deliver the international-scale mega project according to schedule.
Earlier, the special meeting was also attended by state executive councillor for investment, trade, and mobility Ng Sze Han and state executive councillor for infrastructure and agriculture Dato' Izham Hashim.
Previously, the Menteri Besar said the state government had fully resolved the land ownership issues for the construction of the Third Port Klang Terminal on Pulau Carey in December last year.
The process involved 2,500 acres of land onshore and 1,700 acres of seabed.
The terminal is a strategic project aimed at strengthening Malaysia's economic capacity and enhancing its position in the port and logistics sectors.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has also instructed all relevant agencies to expedite efforts to realise the development of the Third Port Klang Terminal on Pulau Carey.
