KUALA LUMPUR, July 10 — The government is not implementing across-the-board restrictions on allocations for the Health Ministry and the Education Ministry in 2026.
The Finance Ministry (MoF) said that, with regard to the Health Ministry, the government remains focused on the delivery of public healthcare services, the maintenance of health facilities, the procurement of medicines and medical equipment, and strengthening the capacity of the national healthcare system.
“Any expenditure adjustments are made without compromising core services to the public,” the ministry said in a written reply published on the Parliament website yesterday.
The reply was in response to a question from Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal (Warisan-Semporna) on allocations for the Health Ministry and the Education Ministry this year, and whether they had been reduced.
The MoF also said that, with regard to the Education Ministry, the government continues to prioritise school operations, the welfare of students and teachers, the maintenance of educational institutions, and the implementation of high-impact educational programmes.
“The measures implemented to optimise spending focus on areas where savings can be achieved without compromising the quality of and access to education,” it said.
