BANDUNG, July 9 — The Selangor government will boost collaborations with West Javan small and medium enterprises (SMEs) through business matching, institutional partnerships, and knowledge exchange sessions to help them expand into Malaysian and Indonesian markets.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said SMEs would remain a key focus of Selangor’s efforts to deepen economic ties with Indonesia.
He added that the state would work with SME-related institutions to facilitate business matching and strengthen cross-border cooperation between enterprises.
“One of the key components is (facilitating) business matching and coordination with institutions supporting SMEs in Selangor and their counterparts.
“SMEs will certainly benefit from the ecosystem that is being developed,” he said at a press conference after the launch of the inaugural Bandung edition of the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS@ASEAN) at Pullman Bandung Grand Central here today.
Amirudin said the collaboration would encourage both sides to exchange expertise in areas such as tourism while creating business opportunities for mutual benefits.
He added that closer cooperation would enable businesses to tap into the combined Malaysian and Indonesian market, creating significant opportunities for growth.
Amirudin said Selangor and West Java are also exploring cooperation in the shariah economy, including opportunities in shariah-compliant industries and business development.
He said the initiative could create economic opportunities beyond conventional trade by leveraging the strengths of both regions in the Islamic economy.
“This opens up another opportunity for us to learn, build new capabilities and strengthen trade.
“We want to reinforce commercial activities while creating greater value through new areas of cooperation,” Amirudin added.
