BANDUNG, July 9 — The Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) goes overseas for the first time today, with more than 400 delegates from Malaysia and Indonesia to gather in Bandung for the inaugural SIBS@ASEAN 2026.

Selangor’s Indonesian leg of its flagship trade and investment platform marks a new chapter in the state’s push to deepen trade, investment and strategic cooperation with West Java.

The two-day summit, to be held at Pullman Grand Central Bandung, was organised by Invest Selangor Bhd with support from West Java’s Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Department (DPMPTSP) and other regional partners.

SIBS@ASEAN is expected to gather 225 participants from Malaysia and 200 from Indonesia, including government leaders, investors, businesses and industry stakeholders.

The highlight of the event is the Selangor Medical Tourism and Education Expo, jointly organised by Tourism Selangor and Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS), featuring 30 booths by Malaysian healthcare providers and education institutions.

With Indonesians accounting for the largest share of Selangor’s medical tourists, the expo is expected to strengthen the state’s position as a preferred destination for quality healthcare and higher education, while expanding institutional collaboration between both countries.

Participating institutions include Sunway Medical Centre, Subang Jaya Medical Centre, KPJ Rawang Specialist Hospital, MSU Medical Centre, Universiti Selangor (UNISEL), Taylor’s University, UCSI University, Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL), and Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP).

Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari and West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi will launch SIBS@ASEAN today, alongside Selangor executive councillor for investment, trade and mobility Ng Sze Han and Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan.

The first day of the summit will see the exchange of several memoranda of understanding (MOUs), including partnerships involving Tourism Selangor, Wanita Berdaya Selangor (WBS), UNISEL, and their Indonesian counterparts, covering tourism, education, women empowerment, talent development, and technology collaboration.

The summit will also feature presentations on investment opportunities in Selangor and West Java, as well as panel discussions on ASEAN supply chain integration, cross-border talent mobility, and the regional business landscape.

On the second day, the Selangor delegation will visit several industrial sites in West Java to explore collaboration in sectors such as aerospace, rail and mobility, creative industries, energy, property development, and technology.

Yesterday, Amirudin led the Selangor delegation to a series of high-level meetings, including courtesy calls on Indonesian Trade Minister Budi Santoso, Indonesian Deputy Industry Minister Faisol Riza, and representatives of sovereign wealth fund Danantara Indonesia.

Since its inception in 2015, SIBS has grown into the state’s premier trade and investment platform, gathering businesses, investors and policymakers from around the world. The annual summit has facilitated billions of ringgit in potential trade and investment, and strengthened Selangor’s role as a preferred gateway for regional business collaboration and economic growth.
