KUALA LUMPUR, July 5 — The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) is forecasting strong westerly winds that could bring bad weather to several areas starting this Wednesday.

It said that an analysis of the latest weather forecast models indicates that the phenomenon is expected to occur in northern Sabah, Sarawak, and the Labuan Federal Territory from Wednesday (July 8) to Friday (July 10).

The bad weather is also expected to hit the northern and eastern areas of Peninsular Malaysia from Friday to Sunday (July 12).

MetMalaysia added that the situation could result in strong winds and rough seas in the South China Sea, the waters of Phuket, and the north of the Strait of Malacca.

"This situation also has the potential to form a storm line that will bring thunderstorms with heavy rain and strong winds for a longer period in the affected areas," according to the post.

The public is advised to always get the latest and most accurate weather information via the website www.met.gov.my and MetMalaysia official social media, as well as the myCuaca app.
