SHAH ALAM, July 5 — The Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) has conducted door-to-door assessments, tax negotiations, and payment operations in Taman Melawati and Hulu Kelang to resolve outstanding arrears among property owners.
It said that their operational team visited 26 premises with tax arrears exceeding RM10,000, with a cumulative total of RM377,752.28 in total unpaid taxes.
In a Facebook post today, the local authority said it successfully collected RM16,000.00, representing four per cent of the total identified arrears.
Several challenges were identified during the operation, including eight vacant units, property owners refusing to cooperate, and property ownership transfers.
MPAJ added that the approach and negotiation method were utilised to help property owners settle their outstanding taxes systematically, while also increasing public awareness of their responsibility to pay assessment taxes.
