SHAH ALAM, June 29 — The Kelantan police have advised Malaysians, especially those residing in the state, to postpone their trip to southern Thailand following the recent bombing incident at a petrol station.
The incident at Phrai Wan in the Tak Bai district, Narathiwat province, also injured two Malaysians after the sports utility vehicle (SUV) they were travelling in was hit by the blast today.
Berita Harian reported that Kelantan police chief CP Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said he often reminded the public to align with the travel advisory.
While the authorities cannot prevent individuals from travelling to the country, he emphasised that Malaysians must take precautions to avoid unwanted incidents.
"Many ignore the safety warnings and are willing to queue up to enter southern Thailand, especially during the festive season and school holidays.
“We always remind the public that the security situation in southern Thailand is difficult to predict. When and where an explosion or shooting incident will occur, no one knows.
"For example, today two Malaysians were injured in a bomb explosion. We ourselves do not know where the bomb was planted," he said.
Earlier today, it was reported that the two men are being treated at Narathiwat Hospital, and their condition is understood to be stable.
