Durian season arrives in Ampang Jaya as council offers 55 sales lots

SHAH ALAM, June 24 — The Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) is offering 55 durian sales lots at 15 selected locations in conjunction with the fruit season, from July 1 to August 31.

In a statement, MPAJ said the facilities are being offered through the MPAJ 2026 Temporary Hawker Licence for Seasonal Fruit (Durian) Sales, with applications now open to interested traders.

The local authority said the sales locations are spread across five state constituencies — Pandan Indah, Teratai, Lembah Jaya, Bukit Antarabangsa and Hulu Kelang.

“Among the locations offered are road shoulders in Taman Cempaka, near the Taman Mawar roundabout, the car park at Laman Rekreasi Tasik Tambahan, Laman Santai Ampang Point, the Taman Melawati night market site, and several other locations,” it said.

MPAJ said applicants must be Malaysian citizens aged 18 and above. Operating hours have been set from 7 am to 12 midnight, with sales permitted on a takeaway-only basis.

It said licence holders are also responsible for maintaining cleanliness in their business areas and implementing traffic control measures to ensure road safety.

Workers at Durian Brothers arrange their durians before customers arrive for the day, in Klang, on July 13, 2025.

“Traders are reminded to obtain the MPAJ 2026 Temporary Hawker Licence for Seasonal Fruit (Durian) Sales at locations designated by MPAJ before commencing business operations,” it said.

Applications can be submitted at the Licensing Counter in the Level 4 Lobby of Menara MPAJ. For further enquiries, contact the MPAJ Licensing and Entrepreneur Development Department at 03-4285 7344.
