SHAH ALAM, June 23 — The three-day Selangor State Legislative Assembly special sitting, which started June 19 to debate the Selangor Resilience Enhancement Package (SREP), was adjourned today.
Selangor Speaker Lau Weng San said the Second Meeting of the Fourth Session of the 15th Selangor State Legislative Assembly will be held from August 3 to 14.
He added that the new e-Sidang system will be in use for the period to facilitate question-and-answer processes and confirmations by state executive councillors.
“This initiative is part of institutional reforms to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of managing Selangor State Legislative Assembly legislation affairs.
“I also urge all assemblymen to attend meetings and sittings, actively partake in assembly debates, and be present when answers are delivered by state executive councillors … be it during question-and-answer sessions or wind-up sessions so there are no questions left unanswered.
“State executive councillors are allowed to submit written responses if assemblymen (who posed questions) aren’t present for the sitting,” Lau said before adjourning the special sitting today.
Meanwhile, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the special sitting is an important platform to debate Selangor’s direction and policy shifts designed to address current economic challenges.
He added that assemblymen’s active participation throughout the sitting reflects the state government’s commitment to transparent, accountable governance practices.
“This sitting gave us room to debate the state’s direction and several changes and shifts.
“This accountability was apparent by the administration and management, with such active participation and highly positive responses from all assemblymen,” Amirudin said.
