JOHOR BAHRU, June 22 — Pakatan Harapan (Harapan) chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to announce the coalition’s full list of 56 candidates for the 16th Johor state election tonight.
The candidate announcement ceremony is set to take place at 8 pm at the Bukit Gambir Extreme Park field, completing the coalition’s lineup for all seats being contested in the election.
Harapan’s top leadership, including DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke and Amanah president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, are expected to attend, alongside party machinery members and supporters.
So far, Harapan, through DAP, has announced five candidates: lawyer Chu Poh Yee (Mengkibol), deputy finance minister's private secretary Nor Zulaila Abd Ghani (Tiram), Johor DAP Socialist Youth (DAPSY) chief Lee Wern Yiing (Johor Jaya), former incumbent Wong Bor Yang (Senai) and Kulai member of parliament's special assistant Mohamad Shafwan Ani (Bukit Permai).
PKR has announced Arthur Chiong Sen Sern, who will defend the Bukit Batu state seat.
In a social media post yesterday, Anwar said Johor deserves a leadership that is integrity-based, credible and committed to the state’s progress and the well-being of its people.
The Election Commission (EC) has set June 27 as nomination day, July 7 as early voting day and July 11 as polling day.
