SEPANG, June 19 — A woman was charged in the Magistrate's Court here today with the murder of an Indonesian national in an incident that allegedly took place earlier this month.
Chin Siau Lan, 44, was accused of causing the death of the woman, identified as Puteri, at a residential unit in Block B, The Olive, Jalan Sunsuria 1, Bandar Sunsuria, at 2.31 pm on June 3.
The charge, framed under Section 302 of the Penal Code, carries the death penalty or imprisonment of not less than 30 years and not more than 40 years, as well as not fewer than 12 strokes of the cane upon conviction.
No plea was recorded as murder cases fall under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
Deputy Public Prosecutor V Luvithaa appeared for the prosecution, while lawyer V Ayasamy represented Chin.
Magistrate Khairatul Animah Jelani fixed July 21 for mention of the case and submission of relevant documents.
