Selangor cements investor ties with strategic industry visits — Exco

KLANG, June 18 — Invest Selangor Bhd’s “Royal Patron Programme with the Industry” programme strengthens strategic partnerships between the state government and major investors, and supports efforts to boost Selangor’s GDP, said state executive councillor for investment, trade and mobility Ng Sze Han.

He said this on-site approach allows the state administrations to understand the operations and needs of these companies that have long contributed to Selangor’s economic growth.

He added that site visits and dialogue sessions with investors lets the Selangor government identify types of support it could provide these investors to ensure business continuity and development in the state.

“(F&N and IKEA) are important investments for Selangor because they are mature companies that have contributed to Selangor’s GDP and economic growth.

“(Dialogue sessions) are, for me, very important because it is a commitment from the state government to continuously hold … meetings with important investors like F&N and IKEA,” he said.

“We also receive information or updates about their businesses and how the state government can facilitate or help them so their businesses continue to grow in Selangor,” Ng said after accompanying Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah to IKEA Supply Malaysia Sdn Bhd at the Pulau Indah Industrial Park (Phase 3) here today.

Earlier, Tengku Amir Shah visited the Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd (F&N) processing factory in Pulau Indah with Invest Selangor Bhd chief executive officer Dato’ Hasan Azhari Idris.

Meanwhile, Ng said the programme will continue with visits to several other investor companies to strengthen Selangor’s investment ecosystem.

“There are also two or three recommendations we have submitted to the Raja Muda of Selangor’s office, where we feel it is also an important investment for us to visit those companies,” he added.
