Yayasan MBI assists various groups, distributes over half mln

SHAH ALAM, June 15 — Yayasan Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporation) or MBI has distributed more than RM500,000 to approximately 5,000 recipients from various backgrounds, including athletes, patients, and disaster victims, since the beginning of this year.

The foundation's chief Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said the financial assistance has been channelled in stages through various funding sources, including disaster relief allocations, empowerment funds, and wakalah zakat allocations, to help ease the recipients' burdens.

A significant portion of the funds has been allocated to disaster victims, as emergency assistance typically involves many recipients and higher costs.

“For today alone, the foundation has allocated approximately RM36,200 to assist 12 recipients. Through these contributions, we hope to help them achieve their goals and aspirations.

“I estimate that we have distributed around half a million ringgit across various categories of assistance, particularly for disaster relief, which requires larger allocations. In flood situations, many victims require assistance,” he said.

Yayasan Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporation) or MBI chief Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor speaks to Media Selangor after presenting contributions to 12 recipients at Bangunan Darul Ehsan in Shah Alam, on June 15, 2026.

He was speaking to Media Selangor after presenting contributions to 12 recipients, including young motorsport athletes Rayqarl Alhayy Mohd Rahidi and Muhammad Wazif Amsyar, as well as cataract patient Roziah Jamal.

Meanwhile, Rayqarl's father Mohd Rahidi Ismail, 58, said the assistance received would be used to cover participation fees for the second round of the MotoMini Malaysia Championship, which is scheduled to take place next week.

He added that his son's motorsport discipline, which he has pursued since the age of six, requires a substantial financial commitment to continue competing at higher levels.

“Rayqarl is currently ranked among the top five competitors. He has also represented Selangor in several championships and finished second in the opening round of the MotoMini series.

“We will use this contribution to pay the participation fee. We hope this assistance from the state will further highlight Rayqarl’s talent, especially as he is expected to compete in Spain at the end of this year,” Rahidi said.
