Police probe fight involving two Shah Alam students

SHAH ALAM, June 15 — Police have opened an investigation into an altercation involving two school students at a football field near a mosque in Section 19 here after one of them sustained injuries and sought treatment at Shah Alam Hospital.

Shah Alam district police chief ACP Sarudin Samah said police received a report from the father of one of the students regarding the incident, which occurred at about 1 pm last Friday.

Initial investigations found that the two male students, aged 13 and 14, knew each other and attended the same school.

"The altercation involved only the two students but is believed to have been witnessed by several other students who were at the scene.

"One of the students later sought treatment at Shah Alam Hospital and was confirmed to have suffered soft tissue injuries," he said in a statement today.

Sarudin said police would conduct a thorough investigation, including obtaining the necessary orders to facilitate the probe and calling all witnesses who were at the scene to assist in the investigation.

He said the case was being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.

"If convicted, the offender may face imprisonment of up to one year, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both," he said.

He also urged members of the public with information related to the incident to contact the investigating officer, Inspector Mohammad Amirul Zulkifli, at 012-558 3436 or the nearest police station to assist in the investigation.
