SHAH ALAM, June 13 — A Rohingya man was detained after attempting to flee from a Road Transport Department (JPJ) enforcement check during an operation in Guar Kepayang, Pendang, yesterday afternoon.
In the 6.30pm incident, the man abandoned the motorcycle he was riding and fled into a paddy field upon noticing the presence of enforcement officers.
Kedah JPJ director Stien Van Luta said further checks found that the man had 34 outstanding summonses, including offences for not having a valid driving licence, Berita Harian reported.
“The motorcycle has been seized for further action.
"JPJ will continue to take firm action against foreigners, including holders of United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) cards, who fail to comply with Malaysia’s road laws,” he said.
