SHAH ALAM, June 10 — Taman Saga residents are urging the prompt completion of slope repairs along Jalan Saga 17, following delays that have continued to disrupt access and affect neighbourhood safety.

According to The Star, the repair project was initiated after a 6m slope partially collapsed in January when an underground sewer pipe managed by Indah Water Konsortium (IWK) burst, triggering soil movement towards homes in nearby Taman Bukit Teratai.

Teratai assemblyman Yew Jia Haur, who visited the site yesterday, said residents had initially been informed that repairs would be done by May.

“However, we are well into June and the project looks nowhere near finished. I hope IWK can expedite the repairs,” he said, as reported by the local English daily.

The delay has also inconvenienced residents who rely on Jalan Saga 17 to access the housing area, forcing many of them to take alternative routes.

According to an IWK representative stationed at the site, repairs had been slowed by water runoff from the affected slope, which requires more monitoring to prevent further soil movement.

“We had to monitor the situation to ensure it did not cause further damage.

“Works are now 70 per cent complete. We expect to be done in two weeks at the earliest,” the representative said.

Following the January incident, Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) deputy president Hasrolnizam Shaari said the local authority would oversee and monitor repairs.

In an earlier statement, IWK said immediate mitigation measures included the installation of a temporary sewer connection, emergency flow diversion works, and the cleaning of affected drains.

It added that subsequent repairs would involve rebuilding the damaged pipeline and manhole, installing protective features, and reinstating the slope, road surface and guardrail.
