KUALA SELANGOR, June 7 — The names 'Sakti' and 'Seri' have been chosen as the official mascots of the 2026 Malaysia Games (SUKMA) in Selangor, symbolising the strength, beauty, and spirit that the biennial multi-sport event aims to embody.
State executive councillor for youth, sports, and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi said the male white eagle mascot has been named 'Sakti', a word that signifies strength and extraordinary power in classical Malay.
“Sakti symbolises strength. In classical Malay, it refers to possessing magical power or extraordinary abilities.
“We hope the symbolism of this name will inspire and motivate athletes to showcase their talents and strength in sport,” he said.
Najwan was speaking to Media Selangor after officiating the launch ceremony for the SUKMA Selangor 2026 Mascot Names, Theme Song, and Torch Relay at Dataran Malawati, Pekan Lama last night.

He added that the female white eagle mascot has been named 'Seri', a name synonymous with beauty, elegance, and grace.
“The word 'Seri' is often associated with beauty and splendour. It symbolises women and reflects the elegance that we wish to highlight.
“SUKMA is not only a platform for demonstrating strength, but also an opportunity to showcase excellence and positive values,” Najwan said.
On May 10, the Torch Relay Tour for the 22nd SUKMA and Para SUKMA 2026 officially commenced at Dataran Kemerdekaan, Shah Alam, to build sporting excitement ahead of the Games in August.
After passing through Shah Alam, Klang, and Kuala Selangor, the relay will continue to Sabak Bernam, Hulu Selangor, Selayang, Ampang Jaya, Kajang, Subang Jaya, Petaling Jaya, and Kuala Langat, before concluding in Sepang on August 9.
