SHAH ALAM, June 5 — Several recreational areas here continue to draw families during school breaks as parents look to spend time outdoors with their children.
Media Selangor’s survey at a water park in the city found that many visitors choose recreational venues that offer family-friendly facilities, affordable rates, and high accessibility for weekend getaways.
Visitor Mohd Riduan Abdul Hamid, 44, said he chose the location because it is close to his home and is suitable for leisure activities with his family.
“This is my third time here. From a facilities (standpoint), for me it is satisfactory and ticket prices are affordable, especially for the B40 group,” he added.
Riduan suggested holidaymakers plan their journeys, including by buying tickets online, to prevent congestion and facilitate parking management.

Another visitor, who wished to only be known as Aberna, 36, said the facilities available and family-friendly environment was among the main reasons he chose the water park for the school break.
He said the safety aspect is satisfactory as there are workers monitoring the play area, especially those for children.
“This place is very worth it. Lots of facilities, prices are cheaper than other places, and I will definitely recommend it to others,” Aberna added.
Meanwhile, Danial Adham Mohd Muzhafar Faiz, 17, said recreational spots like water parks give teenagers and families a chance to spend time together against a backdrop of relaxation.
“If you come early, it is definitely worth it because you get to play all day. It’s just that food takes quite a while; over 30 minutes of waiting,” he added.

The school break, which started this week, has seen a rise in visitor numbers to various local recreational and tourism spots, with many parents choosing short-distance getaways to spend time with their children.
Besides water parks, locals are visiting popular attractions such as Tasik Shah Alam, Taman Botani Negara Shah Alam, and Pustaka Raja Tun Uda, which offer various activities for the whole family.
Its diverse offerings, accessible facilities and family-friendly environment make Shah Alam a destination of choice among Klang Valley residents for leisure activities and to spend quality time with their families during school breaks.
