KUALA LUMPUR, June 2 — The Selangor Public Library Corporation's (PPAS) annual participation in the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair (KLIBF) serves as an important platform to introduce various state government products and initiatives to the public.
Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said this is particularly fitting given the strong visitor turnout at the event.
“PPAS’ participation in KLIBF every year not only promotes Selangor products to visitors, but also serves as a best medium to engage with the public.
“With over 1.3 million visitors attending KLIBF, this is a very good opportunity to introduce publications, programmes and various activities carried out by PPAS to the public,” he said when met here today.
Earlier, Amirudin spent over an hour visiting several booths at the KLIBF 2026 held at the Kuala Lumpur World Trade Centre (WTCKL).
He was accompanied by WTCKL managing director Datuk Seri Irmohizam Ibrahim and PPAS director Datin Paduka Mastura Muhamad.
He visited booths by Inisiatif Buku Darul Ehsan (IBDE), The Patriots and Pelita Dhihin, as well as the Malaysian Institute of Translation and Books (ITBM) and Dewan Bahasa and Pustaka (DBP).
Amirudin, who holds the state's education portfolio, also interacted with visitors and took time to pose for photographs with members of the public attending the book fair.
He received several books as souvenirs from participating publishers.
During the visit, Amirudin stopped by the Selangor Pavilion, managed by PPAS, and attended a comic sharing session by renowned cartoonist Zid.
