KUALA LUMPUR, June 2 — Police have recorded statements from eight individuals, including the parents of a nine-year-old boy who died after falling from the 13th floor of an apartment block in Taman Cahaya, Ampang, on Sunday evening.
Ampang Jaya police chief ACP Khairul Anuar Khalid said the post-mortem examination on the victim was completed this morning at Ampang Hospital, and the body has been claimed by the family.
"Investigations are still ongoing into the incident," he said when contacted today.
It was reported yesterday that a woman found the boy unconscious at 7.45pm on Sunday. An assistant medical officer from Ampang Hospital later confirmed his death at the scene.
Khairul Anuar said initial investigations revealed that the child was believed to have been left home alone when the incident occurred.
The case is being investigated under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001 for child neglect, which carries a maximum jail term of 20 years, a fine not exceeding RM50,000, or both, upon conviction.
