SHAH ALAM, June 2 — Three new flyovers will be constructed along Jalan Subang, involving the Monfort intersection, Kerjaya-Persiaran Sukan interchange, and the area in front of the Central Sugars Refinery (CSR) factory, to reduce traffic congestion in Shah Alam.
Shah Alam MP Azli Yusof said the project has now entered the tender document preparation stage after the design and construction plans were completed.
“I raised (this issue) in the Parliament’s Special Chamber two years ago, and a minister did reply on upgrading the Monfort intersection. Then, the Kerjaya-Persiaran Sukan intersection heading to Brunsfield, and another one in front of CSR.
“That was two years ago and I continued to follow up during the first session of Parliament this year, and this time, the works minister himself replied. This means it is in the implementation process.
“All praise to god, last week I received a briefing from the Selangor Public Works Department (JKR) on the latest updates. This time, they actually showed that the plans and designs are all completed. Consultants have been appointed to prepare the tender documents,” he told Media Selangor.
Azli hopes that the preparation of the tender documents can be completed quickly so the construction of the flyovers can begin without any delay.
He said the construction is expected to help smooth traffic flow, particularly in areas currently facing congestion due to the presence of several nearby traffic lights.
“With the construction of these flyovers, traffic congestion can be reduced because currently there are three traffic lights located close to each other, causing bottlenecks.
“Without traffic lights at the lower level, traffic flow towards the Federal Highway and the industrial area will be smoother.
“The flyover at the Federal Highway will also be redesigned and upgraded from a four-phase traffic light system to a three-phase system,” he said.
