In Wesak greeting, MB says Buddhist teachings relevant amid current crises

SHAH ALAM, May 31 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari today wished Malaysians, especially Selangoreans, a Happy Wesak Day.

In a Facebook post today, he said Wesak is a sacred festival that commemorates the birth of Gautama Buddha.

“The teachings of Buddhism, which prioritise peace and harmony as the foundation of life, are relevant in a world currently beset by various conflicts.

“May Wesak Day be celebrated with great joy and merriment among Buddhists around the world,” he added.

Wesak Day celebrates the birth, enlightenment and death of Gautama Buddha, during which Buddhists pray, release doves, and donate food to the poor.
