11 resort operators in Dusun Tua join KDEBWM waste collection system

SHAH ALAM, May 31 — Eleven chalet and resort owners in Dusun Tua, Hulu Langat are participating in a waste collection and disposal system with KDEB Waste Management (KDEBWM) to streamline waste management in the tourism field.

Dusun Tua assemblyman Datuk Johan Abd Aziz said this was achieved thanks to several engagement sessions with the owners.

He explained that previously, some operators managed waste disposal on their own, while others used existing facilities and landfills.

“When commercial operations use public facilities, it can affect the capacity and waste management in the involved areas.

“This coordination is important to ensure a more organised system,” he said in a statement on Facebook, adding that among the chalet owners involved are Ajla Village, Idaman Nurani, Laman Iftitah, Skycam, and Dedaun.

He said the step is a positive development in efforts to strengthen solid waste management in tourism hotspots to maintain cleanliness and reduce the risk of uncontrolled waste disposal.

“Hopefully, the action taken by these 11 chalet and resort owners will be an example for other owners to also play a role in maintaining cleanliness and environmental sustainability (here),” Johan added.
