KUALA LUMPUR, May 27 — Former Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said he will give his full cooperation to the police in relation to investigations into allegations of criminal intimidation linked to him.

He has been in contact with the police and is prepared to provide a statement to assist in the investigation.

Azam added that the allegations made by businessman Albert Tei were baseless and emphasised that he has never had any dealings with the latter.

“Honestly, I have never dealt with him, never communicated with him, and never sent my lawyer to speak with him,” he said when contacted today.

Azam also welcomed the investigation into the allegations but urged authorities to investigate Tei as well, and that he is considering legal action.

Yesterday, Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk M. Kumar said police would summon Azam in the near future to assist in investigations under Section 506 of the Penal Code.

The investigation follows a police report lodged by Tei on May 13, alleging that he received threats from the former MACC chief commissioner while attempting to expose alleged corruption scandals involving politicians in Sabah.
