HULU SELANGOR, May 26 — A teenager who is believed to have gotten lost while hiking Bukit Changkat Asa here on May 23 was found dead by rescuers today.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) assistant operations director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the body of Nur Izzati Humaira Azizul, 19, was found off the hiking trail by the search and rescue (SAR) team at 11.59am today.
“The victim’s body was found about 500m from her last known location and 1km from the incident control post.
“It took the SAR team about 20 minutes to bring the body to the control post using a stretcher,” he told Bernama when met at the control post.
The body was handed over to police and sent to Kuala Kubu Bharu Hospital, he added.
The SAR operation has been called off after four days.
Nur Izzati was believed to have gotten lost at about 10.50am on May 23 while descending the hill with her family after going ahead alone, citing the heat and fatigue.
The case drew widespread media attention, with many netizens expressing concern and offering prayers and hopes for the teenager’s safe return.
