KUALA SELANGOR, May 26 — The Jeram Waste-To-Energy (WTE) 2 plant will be completed by December and strengthen Selangor’s waste management capacity and sustainable energy generation, said Selangor State Legislative Assembly Select Committee for Agencies, Statutory Bodies and Subsidiaries chairman Rajiv Rishyakaran.
He added that the project is 87 done and will be able to generate up to 25MW of electricity.
“The Tanjung Duabelas (WTE plant) will be a bit late, around two more years till it’s done,” he said.
“The total energy production quota for plants managed by Worldwide (Holdings Bhd) is 90MW, with Jeram WTE 1 and 2 contributing 50MW while Tanjung Duabelas (will contribute) 40MW,” he said after a committee visit to the Jeram WTE 1 plant here yesterday.

Selangor previously made history when the Jeram WTE 1 plant, which is also the largest facility of its kind in Southeast Asia, opened on May 13.
Previously, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the plant, which was built in two years and seven months, can process up to 1,500 tonnes of solid waste a day to generate electricity for Selangoreans.
He said the project reflects the Selangor government’s commitment to sustainable waste management using modern technology, thereby reducing dependence on conventional landfills.
