KUALA SELANGOR, May 25 — A special Selangor State Legislative Assembly sitting will be held next month to discuss the Second Selangor Plan (RS-2), which will dictate the state’s direction for the next five years.
Speaker Lau Weng San said the assembly is awaiting Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj’s assent for the sitting.
He added that the assembly received a notice from the Menteri Besar’s Office about a special sitting scheduled for June 19, 22 and 23.

“The assembly office has informed the Sultan of Selangor’s office of (the special sitting notice) for assent,” Lau said at a press conference after joining a Select Committee for Agencies, Statutory Bodies and Subsidiaries visit to the Jeram waste-to-energy (WTE) plant here today.
According to him, the special sitting would focus on the RS-2 tabling by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari before it is debated by assemblymen.
“Whatever was worked on in the RS-1 will be touched on and continued in the RS-2,” he added.

Previously, Amirudin said the RS-2, which will be tabled next month, was formulated by taking current challenges into account, including global geopolitical tensions and the energy crisis.
He said the fresh, more resilient and adaptive approach is necessary to ensure Selangor remains competitive and sustainable for the next five years.
The menteri besar also said RS-2 centres a mission-oriented development model, which is among renowned economist Mariana Mazzucato’s main approaches.
