SHAH ALAM, May 25 — Yayasan Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporation), or MBI, remains committed to supporting emerging athletes through various initiatives, including financial aid and career development, said its head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor.
He added that the aid targets athletes who receive limited support from other parties, ensuring they are able to continue growing and pursuing their goals.
He said the foundation also links promising athletes to relevant organisations such as the Selangor State Sports Council (MSNS) and Selangor Football Association (FAS).
“We always help athletes who are just starting to make a name for themselves or those who face difficulties obtaining assistance from other parties. Our objective is to ensure these athletes are not left behind and can continue to grow and improve,” he told Media Selangor when met after an aid handover ceremony for athletes at Bangunan Darul Ehsan here today.
During the event, 18 athletes ranging from young talents to professional sportspeople received contributions totalling RM65,000 from Yayasan MBI to develop their sporting careers.
Azri said the recipients represented various sports including boxing, motorsports, para golf, tennis, judo, football, push bike, and badminton.
He added that Yayasan MBI does not allocate funds based on specific athlete categories, but instead disburses from its “empowerment” fund, which is also used to aid communities and disaster victims.
“We hope this aid will help the athletes keep progressing and achieve even greater success in the future, while also making Selangor and Malaysia proud,” Azri said.
