Kuala Langat, Sepang forecast to experience heavy rain until 5pm today

SHAH ALAM, May 24 — The Malaysian Meteorological Department has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds in several areas of Selangor until 5pm today.

It said the affected areas in the state are Kuala Langat and Sepang. The same warning was also issued for several areas in Terengganu, Pahang, Negeri Sembilan, Johor, Sarawak, and Sabah.

In Terengganu, the affected areas are Besut, Hulu Terengganu, Dungun, and Kemaman, while in Pahang, the warning covers Cameron Highlands, Raub, Jerantut, Bentong, Temerloh, Kuantan, and Rompin.

For Negeri Sembilan, the affected districts are Seremban, Port Dickson, and Jempol, while in Johor, the warning involves Mersing, Pontian, Kulai, Kota Tinggi, and Johor Bahru.

In Sarawak, the affected areas are Kuching (Kuching), Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei (Pakan and Julau), Sibu (Kanowit and Selangau), Mukah (Dalat and Mukah), Kapit (Song and Kapit), Bintulu, as well as Miri (Subis and Miri).

In Sabah, the warning covers the Interior areas (Kuala Penyu, Beaufort, and Tambunan), the West Coast, Tawau, Sandakan (Tongod, Telupid, and Beluran), and Kudat.

“A thunderstorm warning is issued when there are indications of thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour that are imminent or expected to occur for more than an hour.

“A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for each issuance,” it said in a statement.
