MPKL targets illegal hawkers in late-night operation

SHAH ALAM, May 21 — The enforcement department of the Kuala Langat Municipal Council (MPKL) conducted a monitoring and enforcement operation against unauthorised hawkers around Bandar Tropicana Aman, Telok Panglima Garang on Tuesday.

In a Facebook post, MPKL said the operation began at 8 pm and ended at 1 am, involving seven officers and focusing on monitoring food and beverage hawking activities operating without legal permission from the local authority.

The operation resulted in 22 hawkers being inspected, with 22 offence notices issued for operating businesses without permission from the local authority.

A hawker is issued a compound for trading without a licence in Kuala Langat on May 19, 2026.

The enforcement actions were carried out under By-Law 3 of the MDKL Hawkers By-Laws 2007, which penalises individuals running hawking activities, particularly involving food and beverages, without official authorisation from MPKL.

MPKL said members of the public, especially hawkers, are advised to obtain proper permission and valid business licences from MPKL before starting any business activities to avoid enforcement action.
