KUALA LUMPUR, May 18 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said Malaysia will continue to strengthen its good relations with India for mutual benefit, regional stability, and more inclusive prosperity for both countries.
The matter was discussed during a farewell courtesy call by India’s High Commissioner to Malaysia B.N. Reddy, who will be ending his service in the country soon.
He said the meeting was used to further strengthen Putrajaya-New Delhi bilateral ties, which are now a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, reflecting the shared commitment to expanding cooperation across various sectors.
The cooperation covers trade, digitalisation, artificial intelligence, food security, education, and people-to-people ties.
“I also touched on the positive development in bilateral trade, which reached US$18.59 billion (RM73.85 billion) in 2025, maintaining India as Malaysia’s largest trading partner in South Asia,” Anwar said in a Facebook post today.
He noted that cooperation in digital and emerging technologies has also shown encouraging progress through the inaugural Malaysia-India Digital Council meeting and the MY-India AI Conclave held in the capital recently.
