MetMalaysia: Thunderstorms expected to hit 11 states until 5pm today

KUALA LUMPUR, May 12 — Thunderstorms, heavy rains, and strong winds are expected to hit almost all states across the country until 5pm today, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department.

In a 2.05pm warning, it said the weather conditions involve Kedah (Kuala Muda, Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu); Penang (Seberang Perai Utara, Seberang Perai Tengah, and Seberang Perai Selatan); and the entire state of Johor.

The same situation is predicted to occur in Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang dan Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Batang Padang, and Mualim), Kelantan (Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Jeli, Tanah Merah, Machang, Pasir Puteh, Kuala Krai, and Gua Musang), and Terengganu (Besut, Setiu, Hulu Terengganu, Dungun, and Kemaman).

Also affected are several areas in Pahang, including Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub, Bentong, Maran, and Rompin, as well as Selangor (Hulu Selangor, Gombak, and Hulu Langat) and Negeri Sembilan (Jelebu, Seremban, Kuala Pilah, Jempol, and Tampin).

For Sarawak, the affected areas are Sri Aman (Lubok Antu), Sarikei (Pakan and Julau), Sibu (Kanowit), Kapit (Song), Miri (Miri and Marudi), and Limbang.

Meanwhile, in Sabah, similar weather is expected to hit the Interior areas (Sipitang, Tenom, Beaufort, Nabawan, Keningau, and Tambunan); the West Coast (Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran, and Kota Belud); Tawau (Tawau and Kunak); and Kudat.
