SHAH ALAM, May 8 — The Selangor Technical Development Centre (STDC) continues its commitment to empowering young talent by serving as the organising agency for the 2026 Selangor Students Overseas Convention in Sydney, Australia.
Themed ‘Young Innovators Shaping Malaysia’s Future’, the convention serves as a platform to showcase Selangor’s efforts in developing future-ready digital talent and expanding the state’s artificial intelligence (AI) agenda on the international stage.
“This intensive programme is designed to help students transition from AI awareness to AI implementation, including exposure to the use of Gemini, Vertex AI, document search engine development, multimodal applications and responsible AI security management,” it said in a statement today.
STDC also underscored the importance of future talent development, AI sovereignty, technology cost efficiency, and the safe and ethical use of AI.
During the convention, its chief executive officer Dr Harizal Hamid, together with industry teaching representatives, presented a session titled ‘Empowering Selangor Students with Google Cloud AI’, focusing on digital talent development and mastery of AI technologies.
“The presentation highlighted STDC’s strategic approach in providing high-impact training through the Google Cloud ecosystem, covering generative AI, MLOps, secure model deployment, multimodal development, and AI governance and security,” STDC said.
Malaysia Islamic Development Department (JAKIM) deputy director-general and STDC board member Datuk Zamani Ahmad Mansor also delivered a presentation on the role of government in the AI ecosystem through data-driven governance and the development of an AI-ready workforce.
The centre said its role in managing the international platform reflects its continued commitment to nurturing a generation of young innovators capable of driving Selangor and Malaysia’s digital transformation agenda.
