SHAH ALAM, April 30 — The Selangor government condemns Israel for attacking and arresting Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) 2.0 activists during their mission to deliver humanitarian aid to Palestine’s Gaza.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the interception not only violates international oceanic laws, but reflects Israel’s inhumane actions when it intercepted GSF 2.0 vessels and kidnapped activists off the ships near Crete Island in Greece.
“(Israel) has for a long time proves it intends to continue its genocide of Palestinians, whether in the form of bombing or blocking humanitarian aid from other parties like in this latest incident.
“These murderer-pirates are also victimising people in West Asia, including the people of Lebanon who are being forced from their own land, or people in Iran who are victims of killings.
“I urge the condemnation and efforts from all parties in all aspects to increase pressure against Israel’s Zionist regime,” he said in a statement today.
Fifty-six ships sailed from Sicily in Italy towards Gaza on Sunday with essential goods for Palestinians in the besieged enclave.
Previously, Amirudin, who led the Malaysian delegation for the GSF 2.0 mission, said he would contact Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan to ensure Malaysian activists arrested by Israel are freed and kept safe.
Israel’s Foreign Ministry in a statement posted today, along with a video of activists on Israeli navy ships, said: “Around 175 activists on more than 20 ships are being brought peacefully to Israel.”
