SHAH ALAM, Apr 23 — The framework for the Second Selangor Plan (RS-2) for the next five years takes into account the impact of global crises, including geopolitical tensions affecting the world economy.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the current situation, including the crisis in West Asia and the energy crisis, requires a new approach that is more resilient and adaptive.

“Among the new approaches adopted in RS-2 is a mission-oriented framework, which has been a hallmark of economists such as Mariana Mazzucato,” he said.

He was met by reporters after officiating the First Selangor Plan (RS-1) Showcase at the Selangor State Secretariat Building here yesterday.

Amirudin added that RS-2 will also focus on strengthening and refining new policies implemented by the government.

“For example, in terms of the economy, we will assess the effectiveness of Speed Selangor in optimising investment processes in Selangor. Following that, we will roll out Speed Selangor Rakyat at the local authority level,” he explained.

He said that safeguarding the economy will also be prioritised to enhance the social well-being of the people.

“Sustainability will be a key pillar in RS-2, alongside exploring new opportunities,” he said.

He added that several adjustments will be made to recovery plans, as the energy crisis is expected to persist for at least another year.

“We are also formulating RS-2 with a spirit and context that are somewhat similar — responding to a very different situation but with comparable economic impacts.

“And how RS-2 can adapt and sustain the resilience and stability of Selangor’s economy, as achieved in previous years,” he said.
