SHAH ALAM, Apr 20 — Registration for the 2026 Basic Language Class intake (Session 5) is now open under the Language Discovery @ Selangor Public Library programme.
The initiative, organised by the Selangor Public Library Corporation (PPAS), offers four language options: Tamil, Arabic, Spanish and Mandarin.
The classes are provided free of charge exclusively for Selangor residents, funded through a state government subsidy as part of efforts to broaden access to foreign language learning among the community.
According to the organisers, priority will be given to individuals who have previously registered an account under Language Discovery.
Those interested may register here or contact 016-206 4264 and 011-5879 1664 for further information.
Previously, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the state had begun offering free online foreign language classes this year as part of efforts to strengthen multilingual skills and promote unity among the people.
Amirudin said the initiative reflects the state government’s belief that language is a strength that enables Malaysia to compete globally, rather than a source of division.
Following this, he announced last week a special allocation of RM500,000 to implement the programme.
