SHAH ALAM, April 15 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari is seeking approval for Malaysia to send a delegation to Brussels, Belgium, for the European Parliament’s sitting on April 22, to highlight issues plaguing Palestine.
He said this is to ensure Malaysia’s voice is taken to the international level to urge the immediate address of humanitarian issues in the country.
“On April 22, there will be a sitting of the European Parliament in Brussels, and I am seeking approval for the prime minister or Malaysia to send a delegation.
“This is because two or three important matters must be submitted (on Palestine),” he said on the Keluar Sekejap podcast with Khairy Jamaluddin and Shahril Hamdan published last night.
He added that one of the issues tabled would be a demand for the Zionist Israel regime to end its siege on Palestine, expressing his concern for the regime’s new law that would allow the hanging of Palestinian detainees.
“This rule could expose around 10,000 Palestinians to the penalty, which is a very serious humanitarian issue,” he said.
Amirudin also said he is confident that Malaysia’s active participation in the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) 2.0 with other countries would boost consistent lobbying efforts on the international stage.
“Through diplomatic approaches and cooperation from various countries, Malaysia could play an important role in fighting for this issue,” he added.
He asserted that the humanitarian mission under GSF 2.0 was mobilised to help Palestinians and express global solidarity with its people.
GSF 2.0 has departed Barcelona and is heading towards Gaza, with thousands of supporters from various countries having gathered at Moll de la Fusta to send off the mission, which aims to break the Zionist Israel regime’s siege on Gaza and channel humanitarian aid to Palestinians there.
This time, GSF 2.0 involves more than 80 boats and around 1,000 participants from around the world, combining maritime efforts with mobilisation efforts on land, including legal advocacy and solidarity campaigns in various countries.
