30 containers of aid to be sent via land to Gaza through Rafah — MB

SHAH ALAM, April 15 — Thirty containers of humanitarian aid will be sent to Palestine’s Gaza via land, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, the last batch of some 130 containers sent to the besieged enclave since 2024.

He added that a Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) 2.0 team is awaiting approvals and the right time to enter Gaza through Rafah.

“The 30 containers, which carry medicine and food, will go through the land route. This isn’t the first session; in 2024 and 2025 we sent 100 containers but it wasn’t done on a large scale (in terms of media coverage).

“(The containers have started moving) and we are waiting for the right time to approach the Rafah crossing. I hope it goes well, because safety protocols have been increased three- or fourfold,” he said on the Keluar Sekejap podcast hosted by Khairy Jamaluddin and Shahril Hamdan that was published yesterday.

Amirudin added that GSF 2.0 involves an estimated 40-member Malaysian delegation that plays an important role in coordinating and ensuring smooth delivery throughout the mission.

He also said the mission will take between 20 and 25 days, with hundreds of activists from around the world departing Spain to support aid delivery and distribution in Gaza.

“The Spanish people have been very welcoming towards the activists here. Barcelona has a maritime base that houses all the ships and yachts and the atmosphere is good, including yesterday with the presence of (activists) from multiple continents,” Amirudin shared.

He then asserted that the initiative reflects global concern for Palestinians and shows close cross-country cooperation in ensuring aid is effectively and consistently delivered.

GSF 2.0 has departed Barcelona and is heading towards Gaza, with thousands of supporters from various countries having gathered at Moll de la Fusta to send off the mission, which aims to break the Zionist Israel regime’s siege on Gaza and channel humanitarian aid to Palestinians there.

This time, GSF 2.0 involves more than 80 boats and around 1,000 participants from around the world, combining maritime efforts with mobilisation efforts on land, including legal advocacy and solidarity campaigns in various countries.
