BARCELONA, April 12 — The Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) 2.0 has begun its journey to Gaza, departing from Barcelona Port at about 1pm local time (7pm Malaysian time) today.
Thousands of supporters from various countries gathered at Moll de la Fusta to send the mission off as they seek to break through the Israeli blockade of Gaza and channel humanitarian aid to Palestinians there.
Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, who is the mission’s patron minister, Malaysia’s Ambassador to Spain, Haznah Md Hashim, and Sumud Nusantara Command Centre (SNCC) director-general Datuk Sani Araby Alim Araby were present at the send-off.
Humanitarian activist and veteran journalist Zainal Rashid Ahmad is among the Malaysians on board the flotilla.
GSF 2.0 involves over 80 vessels and 1,000 participants from across the globe, combining maritime action with land-based global mobilisation movements.
It also connects solidarity efforts, legal advocacy, and grassroots campaigns across various countries.
