KUALA LUMPUR, April 10 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said one of seven ships previously stranded in the Strait of Hormuz has transited the waterway and is heading to Malaysia.
Anwar, who is also finance minister, said six more ships are awaiting approval and their turn to clear the trade route.
“(Petronas president and chief executive officer) Tan Sri Tengku Muhammad Taufik updated me just now on our ships’ transport journeys.
“Thank God, they all made it through … one is almost here and one has left, but one of our ships is damaged and stranded at port. (But) six more are on their way.
“We hope fuel supplies for April and May … seem to still be majorly under control,” he said.
Anwar was speaking to reporters after performing congregational Friday prayers at Masjid Nurussaadah in Kampung Cheras Baru, Kuala Lumpur, today.
