SHAH ALAM, Apr 10 — Two armed robbery incidents were reported within less than 24 hours in the Bandar Baru Nilai and Rumah Rakyat Nilai areas yesterday.
Nilai district police chief Superintendent Johari Yahya said both cases involved suspects on motorcycles armed with knives and machetes.
“The first incident was reported at 1.10 am at a 24-hour convenience store in Jalan BBN 1/2F, Bandar Baru Nilai.
“Initial investigations found that the incident involved two unidentified men on a motorcycle, one of whom was armed with a knife,” he said in a statement today.
He said the suspects threatened a male victim in his 20s before one of them took an estimated RM600 in cash and several cartons of cigarettes of various brands, then fled the scene.
Johari said the second incident occurred at 9.48 pm in the Rumah Rakyat Nilai area, involving a female victim in her 50s.
“In this incident, three unidentified men on two motorcycles, armed with machetes, are believed to have threatened the victim before fleeing with her valuables, including cash, bank cards and jewellery.
“The victim also sustained minor injuries to her fingers while trying to defend her bag. Total losses are estimated to exceed RM2,000,” he said.
He added that both cases are being investigated under Sections 395/397 and Section 394 of the Penal Code.
