SHAH ALAM, April 6 — More than 50 masked individuals raided a karaoke entertainment centre in Taman Shamelin, Cheras yesterday.
The incident was recorded in a viral 1-minute video, which showed a group of people, mostly clad in black and armed, charging into the premises.
Based on the footage, a lorry crashed into and damaged the premises' gate, before a number of intruders, clutching what appeared to be iron rods and wooden sticks, entered.
The video also captured the aftermath of the incident, which showed the premises being severely damaged.
The motive of the incident has yet to be confirmed.
Berita Harian reported that the Cheras district police headquarters is investigating whether the incident was motivated by revenge, disagreement, or debt.
Selangor police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus confirmed the incident after the department received a report.
“The case is classified under Sections 148 and 427 of the Penal Code. Currently, efforts are underway to trace the suspect,” he said, according to the Malay daily.
Section 148 concerns rioting with a weapon while 427 involves mischief that causes damage.
