KUALA LUMPUR, April 5 — Selangor has launched new travel initiatives at the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) Fair 2026, being held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) here from Friday to today.

The Selangor Pavilion features 86 exhibitors from various tourism segments, including eco-tourism, theme parks, cultural heritage, and hospitality.

State executive councillor for local government and tourism Dato’ Ng Suee Lim said the pavilion is aiming to draw 400,000 visitors.

He added that Selangor’s participation in the fair has strengthened its strategic cooperation with tourism agencies and industry players, in line with Visit Selangor Year and Visit Malaysia 2026.

“Among the main draws is a new travel package by the Klang Royal City Council (MBDK) which focuses on community tourism based on Klang’s cultural heritage, history and gastronomy.

“This initiative offers a more authentic, comprehensive travel experience to domestic and international tourists,” Ng said when met after the launch of the package here yesterday.

According to him, among the tourism products being highlighted are the Sultan Abdul Aziz Royal Gallery, Royal Klang Town Heritage Walk, Tanjung Harapan, Klang’s seafood delicacies, GM Klang, Jalan Tengku Kelana (Little India), Pulau Ketam, Pasar Jawa, traditional top-spinning games in Bukit Kapar, Laman Seni Safari, and Masjid Jamek Cina Muslim Klang.

Previously, Tourism Selangor signed a memorandum of collaboration with Bateriku (M) Sdn Bhd to strengthen the state’s tourism ecosystem.

The collaboration emphasises more comprehensive, accessible automotive support and better safety and comfort for travellers.

Ng said the initiative is in line with the state government’s aspirations to develop a safer, more efficient and resilient tourism ecosystem, in addition to strengthening Selangor’s image as a traveller-friendly destination.

He welcomed more people to visit the Selangor Pavilion at MATTA Fair, which ends today.

Among featured Selangor exhibitors are Farm Fresh, Nur Lembah Pangsun Eco Resort, Wet World Shah Alam, Farm In The City, DurianBB Academy, Fraser Valley Kuala Kubu Bharu, Muzium Sultan Alam Shah, Golden Palm Tree Malaysia, Jump Street Malaysia, Cyberview Resort & Spa, and Selangor Fruit Valley.
