Selangor to unveil targeted measures within two weeks — MB

SELAYANG, April 4 — Selangor will announce targeted measures within the next two weeks to cushion the impact of global uncertainties resulting from the West Asia conflict, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said the state government is finalising detailed plans, including appointing advisers, to ensure support reaches vulnerable groups and to strengthen ongoing federal initiatives.

“Within two weeks, I will announce several measures to be implemented by the state government to reinforce efforts already carried out or to be carried out by the federal administration,” he said during the Taman Templer state constituency Aidilfitri open house at Dataran Ilmu here today, attended by some 200 people.

With the ongoing conflict in West Asia, Amirudin urged the public to understand the current situation and brace for possible challenges ahead as the country navigates the uncertainty.

“This is a situation beyond our control, not something we asked for or planned but it is something we must face together.”

Amirudin said while precautionary steps are being taken, the state will continue development efforts, including improving public facilities and infrastructure, to enhance quality of life.

He added that assistance will be prioritised for those facing hardship such as low-income and vulnerable groups.

“We will do our best to defend the people’s livelihoods and those who are vulnerable and in need will be assisted as quickly as possible.”

He urged the public to avoid waste and remain prepared for uncertainties, as the situation in West Asia remains unpredictable.

“Ramadan has taught us patience and resilience. This is a real challenge that we must face together.”

While Hari Raya celebrations remain festive, Amirudin said Malaysia is celebrating it in a more moderate manner as both state and federal governments focus on working to safeguard livelihoods.

He said prior to the conflict, Malaysia had been on a strong recovery path but external developments have forced the government to take prudent steps, including cost-saving measures.

He also highlighted Malaysia’s resilience in overcoming past crises such as the pandemic and floods, saying the same spirit of adaptability and cooperation is needed now.
