Horror in the house with systemic abuse uncovered at Selayang children’s home

SHAH ALAM, April 3 — Police investigations into alleged sexual abuse at an unlicensed children’s home in Taman Selayang Permata have widened, with more victims coming forward since the case came to light earlier this week.

The New Straits Times reported that victims include boys aged between nine and 17, with medical examinations indicating injuries consistent with both recent and past abuses.

The home is believed to have been operating for about a decade without a licence from the Social Welfare Department.

Bukit Aman’s Sexual, Women, and Child Investigation Division principal assistant director Senior Asst Comm Siti Kamsiah Hassan confirmed that four suspects, including the 31-year-old operator and a teenage resident, have been remanded to assist with the probe.

“Police investigations are still ongoing,” she said.

The case was initially exposed by Pertubuhan Kebangkitan Tiga Tangan Selangor (PKTTS), after former residents came forward with allegations of long-term abuse.

“They kept this buried for years. When they finally spoke, what came out was horrifying and very disturbing.

“This is not an isolated incident. This is systematic, repeated abuse that we believe went on for a long time without anyone exposing their crime,” said PKTTS president S. Maran.

Multiple police reports have since been lodged, with preliminary findings pointing to poor management and a lack of proper supervision at the home, which housed dozens of children.

Maran added that the situation escalated after evidence was allegedly found on the suspects’ mobile phones, strengthening the victims’ accounts.

Since then, some of the victims are showing signs of trauma.

Meanwhile, it was reported that three teenage girls aged 16 and 17 have since lodged reports alleging they were assaulted in separate incidents since mid-last year by individuals linked to the home.

According to sources, the suspects were believed to have stayed at the premises under the guise of temporary volunteers.

The police are continuing investigations into the case, which is believed to involve a wider network connected to the home’s operations.
