JAKARTA, April 1 — Two more Indonesian soldiers have been killed while serving under the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in southern Lebanon, bringing the total number of fatalities to three.
Head of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) Information Centre, Maj Gen Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, identified the soldiers as Captain (Inf) Zulmi Aditya Iskandar and First Sergeant Muhammad Nur Ichwan.
He said the two personnel were killed while escorting a UNIFIL vehicle to a designated location. During the journey, the vehicle exploded, resulting in fatalities.
“There was an explosion in the vehicle which caused the deaths of the soldiers,” he said, according to ANTARA News Agency yesterday.
Two other personnel, First Lieutenant (Inf) Sulthan Wirdean Maulana and Private First Class Deni Rianto, were injured in the incident.

Maj Gen Aulia said the cause of the explosion has yet to be determined, adding that UNIFIL is currently conducting an investigation.
“To determine the cause of the incident, UNIFIL is conducting an investigation. TNI continues to monitor developments and prepare contingency measures in response to the situation in the Lebanon mission area,” he said.
On Monday, TNI reported that one soldier was killed and three others injured in a separate incident on March 30 amid escalating security conditions in southern Lebanon.
The fallen soldier was identified as Private First Class Farizal Rhomadhon, while Private First Class Rico Pramudia sustained serious injuries. Two others, Private First Class Bayu Prakoso and Private First Class Arif Kurniawan, suffered minor injuries.
