'A life for a life': Widow of drink-driving victim demands no less

SHAH ALAM, April 1 — The wife of Amirul Hafiz Omar, who was killed after being hit by a drunk driver, has demanded that the perpetrator receive a fitting punishment.

Still grieving, Nor Nadia Abdul Majid, expressed her wish for justice, including a severe sentence for the accused.

“I want a life for a life,” she said upon arriving at the Klang Court Complex at around 9.20am, Malaysia Gazette reported.

The incident occurred on Sunday, when Amirul Hafiz died after being struck by a car driven by a man under the influence of alcohol and drugs on Jalan Raya Barat, Klang.

South Klang district police chief Lim Jit Huey, said the crash at around 11.40am involved a Honda City driven by a local man in his 20s, who was speeding from Jalan Raya Barat towards Bandar Klang.

“Screening tests found that the driver was positive for alcohol and drugs,” he said.

Earlier, Media Selangor reported that the suspect is expected to be charged in court today.
