PETALING JAYA, AUG 21: Local authorities are no more able to hide from the community in its jurisdiction due to the rapid development of information technology nowadays.

Petaling Jaya Mayor, Dato’ Mohd Azizi Mohd Zain said, every development project that will be implemented must be accompanied with feedback from the community to ensure optimum results.

“Managing a township is no longer like before, on fact the local authorities must work closely with its stakeholders which are the communities.

“MBPJ hopes that we have the same aspiration as the community and that we can find a meeting point to enhance our understanding of each other,” he said at the PJKITA Open House Ceremony and the 2017 Sustainable Society Award Launch at The Curve, Mutiara Damansara yesterday.

Commenting further, he said PJKITA is implemented as a digital platform towards a sustainable development between the community and MBPJ.

He added, besides expanding relationships and communication, PJKITA also aims to promote sustainable development efforts based on the Sustainable PJ 2030 strategic plan.

“Since its launch, MBPJ has managed to get into several collaborations among which is the corporate social responsibility programme with Bank Rakyat for PJCity Food project with RM1.5 million donation.

“Through this project, MBPJ has distributed breakfast to almost 5,000 students from 3,000 less fortunate families in Petaling Jaya,” he said.

Besides that, MBPJ also collaborated with DIGI in a digital crime awareness campaign.
