KLANG, Aug 18 — Pahang assembly Speaker Datuk Seri Mohd Sharkar Shamsudin said the Election Commission (EC) will be notified about the vacant Pelangai seat soon.
The seat was left empty after incumbent Datuk Seri Johari Harun died in a plane crash yesterday near Bandar Elmina, Shah Alam.
Sharkar said it is best for the assembly to help Johari’s family with funeral arrangements first before dealing with anything else.
“Let’s just settle the funeral for the deceased first,” he told reporters when met at the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital here tonight.
Johari, 53, who was also Pahang Local Government, Housing, Environment and Green Technology Committee chairman, was one of the 10 who died when a Beechcraft aircraft Model 390 (Premier 1) crashed on the Guthrie Corridor Expressway yesterday.
Sharkar said before the incident, Johari had attended a meeting with Pahang Chief Minister Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail in Langkawi, Kedah.
