SHAH ALAM, March 31 — Nineteen victims of a March 28 house fire in PJS2 received disaster relief in the form of donations from state executive councillor for Islam and innovation Dr Fahmi Ngah yesterday.
The victims are temporarily housed at Dewan MBPJ PJS4 after the fire engulfed two double-storey terrace houses.
“I took the time … to visit the 19 victims of the house fire at PJS2 Taman Medan,” he said in a Facebook video.
Fahmi, who is Seri Setia assemblyman, expressed appreciation to the authorities for providing support to the victims.
“I would like to thank the Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), Social Welfare Department, Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ), Petaling Land District Office, Selangor Zakat Board, Taman Medan coordinator, and everyone involved in helping the victims.”
Media Selangor contacted Fahmi’s office for more information on the disaster relief, but has not received a response at the time of writing.
Previously, it was reported that two houses on Jalan PJS2 2D/12, Taman Medan, were damaged in a fire, with one around 80 per cent razed and the other about 50 per cent destroyed.
Selangor JBPM assistant director (operations) Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the department received a call at 5.34pm on March 28 and sent firefighters from the Jalan Penchala station to the scene, assisted by the Petaling Jaya and Subang Jaya fire stations.
